About Mary's Missionaries
Mary's Missionaries is an international development and relief organization dedicated to making God's love visible by providing for the fundamental needs of people in war-torn and impoverished countries.
Currently serving Jesus in the poor in Belize, Djibouti and Ethiopia, our vision is for communities to value every individual member, to work together for the common good, and to use their skills and resources to improve each other's lives.
What We Do
In Ethiopia's capital Addis Abba, we serve blind community members by providing them with housing and assisting them in finding employment.
In Sagure, Ethiopia, we support Special Education Programs serving handicapped children in primary schools.
In Djibouti, we feed dozens of hungry migrants on a daily basis.
In Belize, we support God's poor with food, clothing, medical assistance, and small business assistance.
How We Serve
We invest in relationships with people. Mary's Missionaries works with locals in Central America and Africa who seek to serve others in their communities. Our aim is that within ten years after we begin to serve a community, they will become self-sufficient. We value the dignity of every human person, the common good, and work.
Our form of service is not a one-size-fits-all method. We listen to the needs of locals, practicing flexibility to address specific needs and support their own efforts to improve the lives of their neighbors.
Your Support
When you support Mary's Missionaries, you are investing in people. Our operating expenses are paid for privately, so 100% of your donations go toward improving the lives of the poor.
In additional to financial support, we depend on the assistance of generous volunteers which can be international missionaries, remote volunteers, and in-person volunteers in the Los Angeles, California area.
Our Catholic Foundation
We are lay missionaries working with laypeople, priests, and religious brothers and sisters to serve the poor. We are named after Our Lady, Mary, the Mother of God, who sends her missionaries into the world to draw people to her son Jesus.
Our Catholic foundation teaches us that all people are created in the image and likeness of God and, therefore, deserving of love, empathy, and service.
Mary's Missionaries is guided by Catholic Social Teaching and the Corporal Works of Mercy.
Our History
Mary's Missionaries was founded in 2017. Our first missionary was serving in a coastal community in Djibouti, a country in the Horn of Africa. While attempting to hand out bread to hungry migrants, a frenzy occurred after which she was challenged to change her perspective.
Instead of only giving to community members, she learned to work in conjunction with locals to empower people to improve their own communities.
